Parralox - Soundtrack For Tomorrow

The retro-electro trend see's no sign of abating with a galaxy of new synth-pop groups referencing the analogue greats from 'back in the day' including Depeche Mode, Human League and Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. Female vocals seem to predominate among the new crop of underground bands that includes Marsheaux, Client and Ultrasonics, whilst the mainstream is represented by Little Boots, Le Roux, Lady Gaga and the awesome Ladyhawke.

However, perhaps the most intriguing artist from this genre are Parralox who are the brainchild of John Von Ahlen inspired by his love of all things synthetic, science-fiction and surreal. The result is a multi-media celebration of shimmering soundscapes and air-brushed imagery that cannot fail to inspire.

Quite apart from the waves of swirling electronics and hypnotic beats layered with seductive velvet vocals, the band's image is defined by a series of iconic images produced by John himself, exquisite typography, vibrant electric colours and stunning photography add a glossy sheen to the bands' identity which echoes fashion and even high-end advertising. Ultra-clean and futuristic themes are incorporated into a portfolio of lavish promo video's that quickly attracted mass visitor numbers on You Tube.

A breathtaking new single ' Hotter' screams 'global hit' and one suspects Parralox will become something of a media phenomena in 2010. For a sanitised assault on your senses check out the following:
