Online Marketing - Social Networking
The onslaught of social networking sites provides another great opportunity for businesses to cement their online position. Inspired by MySpace, Facebook and Bebo, the business sector now has a variety of similarly inspiring sites at their disposal to promote the profile of the company and key staff members.
Linkedin is an agency favourite which now has over 23 million business professionals listed on the site, but there are many, many more depending on your area of interest. You Tube and Flickr enables companies to distribute video and photographs to global audiences, while Second Life actually enables businesses to generate real income from a presence in a virtual world.
The business community is finally waking up to the potential of B2B social networking and many companies now have their own pages on Facebook; some of the bigger corporate players are now actively launching their own social networks to seek out potential customers.
As the internet matures and users become more accustomed to using social networking commercially, these digital environments represent the online equivalent of attending a business convention or showcasing at an exhibition, but with a far more targeted audience and at a fraction of the cost.
